Visa Services provided by the Consulate General of India
 

Visa services in the Consulate General of India, Geneva are rendered only to those residing in the Cantons of Geneva, Vaud, Valais and Neauchatél of Switzerland.

The Consulate General of India, Geneva encourages submission of applications in person, processing of which will take upto 7 working days for clear cases. Time taken for processing Visa applications would also depend on prior clearances to be obtained and other enquiries to be carried out. Applications by authorized person or travel agent will take upto 1 month to process.

Download Visa Authorization Form. Submission of Visa application by registered post has been discontinued. The applications must be submitted to Indian Consulate in person or through authorized agent only.

Kindly note the following prior to applying for visa  
1) Applicants living in French speaking part of Switzerland (Geneva, Neuchatel, Valais and Vaud Cantons) can apply at the Consulate General of India, Geneva. Applicants living in other parts of Switzerland can apply only at Embassy of India, Bern.  
2) Applicants living in France, even if staying in regions immediately surrounding Geneva can only apply in Indian Missions in France.  
3) Visa fee for applications filed with Consulate General of India, Geneva shall be paid only in the Consulate’s account (CCP No. 12-10232-9). Cash payment / other mode of payments are not acceptable. Original counterfoil of the postal slip should accompany the application. All foreign nationals other than Swiss passport holders will be required to fill up an additional form for obtaining visa. An additional fee of CHF 27/- will be charged as service charges.  
4) Visa fees once paid (to postal authorities) will not be refunded, even if applicant fails to file the application.  
5) Determining the duration of validity of each visa to be issued and number of places to be allowed will be entirely at the discretion of the Consulate General of India. Applicants who wish to seek a longer duration visa shall first consult the Consulate General before depositing their fees, as fees once paid will not be refunded.  
6) Visas are valid from the date of issue of visa and the Consulate General will not entertain requests for retaining the passports in the Mission and issue visas at a later date to suit the travel requirements. Applicants are expected to file applications keeping the above in view.  
7) The Consulate General of India, Geneva encourages filing of applications in person and will accept no responsibility for misplacing or loss of passports or other documents sent or being received by post.  
8) Right of issue of visa rests with the Consulate General of India. Receipt of application and fees does not necessarily ensure grant of visa.  
9) Even if a visa is issued, the authority to grant entry into India at the port of arrival entirely rests with the immigration authorities.  
10) It will be the responsibility of the applicant to check if correct particulars are entered in the visa, including name, type and duration of visa, passport number, signature etc. on receipt of the visa before traveling.  
11) Passports accompanying visa applications must have a minimum validity of six months and atleast two blank pages.  
12) Those attending Conferences, visiting India for Research, Studies etc. should consult the Consulate General before applying.  
13) Applicants seeking to visit restricted / protected areas should consult the Consulate General.  
14) Change of purpose of visit is strictly prohibited. Applicants are encouraged to obtain the correct and appropriate visa before traveling.  
15) Separate form has to be filled up by applicants seeking more that 6 months visa.  
16) Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan nationals and Sri Lankan origin foreign passport holders are required to file applications in specific forms.

Visa applications can be submitted from 09.15 hrs. to 12.30 hrs. and documents can be collected from 17.00 hrs. to 18.00 hrs. on all working days (Monday to Friday).
